Press straight down onto the paper with even pressure, and lift straight up rather than rocking. A firm, slightly soft surface beneath the paper gives a cleaner impression than a hard desk.

Stone chips if dropped — the box is the safest place for it between uses. Wipe the carved face gently after use so paste does not dry in the strokes, and keep it out of direct sunlight and away from heat.

Keep 朱肉 closed when not in use so it does not dry out. Load the seal by tapping the face lightly against the paste several times rather than pressing it in hard.
